Paulina Pankiewicz: The Line.

Paulina schreibt zu Ihrer neuen Videoarbeit: THE LINE.
VIII / IX 2010.

"I walked along the coastline of Polish Baltic sea. From the German to the Russian border . I was on my own. Just with a minimal package of the most necessary things. It took me more than 30 days- sea and me -just this. It was a huge experience of space, but also giant experience of myself. I didn’t know how long it would take me. I didn’t have any precise plan for this route. I didn’t have any time limit. I wanted just to walk strait ahead, and didn’t have to think about where I should go. There weren’t many alternatives. There was just one direction.
I was focused on what was around me, and on me in this space. I wanted to be concentrated just on my motion in this space, but the time and the intensity of this motion weren’t planned in advance. There were days of hard walk, sometimes even 10 hours of constant walk on the sand, but the other days without any moving at all. Just being in the space. Being at a standstill. Just listening to the sound of the sea, to the sound of the waves. I was hearing it pure, without even the sound of my feet. If you have something big in your mind which really hearts you, something which you have to clean up, you need a big space to do it. So, I found this space and made a use of it."
